WT approved PSS (Daedo Generation 2) will be used.

Protector and Scoring System: WT approved PSS (Daedo Generation 2) will be used.
The Organizing Committee will provide Protector and Scoring System (PSS) and the head protector to the participating contestants. Participating contestants are required to bring their own groin guards, mouthpieces, gloves, sensor socks, shin and forearm guards for their personal use. All competitors must use WT-approved equipment.

DaeDo PSS will be used for the 4th Sofia Open 2018 G1

Instant Video Replay will be used for all courts.

Conditions for participation

Proof of membership by valid national Federation passport with WTE/WT membership. All contestants have to proof their age and nationality by presenting national ID or passport at weigh-in.
Those who are not recognized as adults by law in their own country must submit a passport or identification card together with a written consent (liability declaration) of their parents or lawful guardian accepting the participation and all parts of the official invitation.
All participants require a WT Global Licence and WT Event Pass (GAL – Global Athlete License or GOL – Global Official License) and must be a member of a National Taekwondo Federation affiliated to the WT. This membership must be proved at registration by providing a valid WT Global Licence. Onsite registration for WT Global License is not possible. Registration must be done in advance.
The WT Event Pass is a mandatory requirement for all athletes and officials (Coach, Referee, Official, Doctor, Physio & Executives) who wish to participate in any World Taekwondo (WT) recognized event.
The WT Licence must be valid or renewed for 2018. Entry fees are obligated at all times. All participants of the Sofia Open 2018 (officials & contestants) are responsible that they are registered and approved through their respective WT Member National Association at least 1 month before the tournament it is required for.

Method of competition:

Single elimination tournament according to WTF Competition Rules.

Age Groups:

Seniors: born in 2000 and older (WT G1 ranking)
– Juniors: born in 2001, 2002, 2003
– Cadets: born in 2004, 2005 and 2006
– Children: born in 2007, 2008 and 2009
Athletes born in 2001 could compete either in Juniors or in Seniors.


Senors Male: -54kg, -58kg, -63kg, -68kg, -74kg, -80kg, -87kg, +87kg;
Seniors Female: -46kg, -49kg, -53kg, -57kg, -62kg, -67kg, -73kg,+673kg
Juniors Male: -45kg, -48kg, -51kg, -55kg, -59kg, -63kg, -68kg, -73kg, -78kg, +78kg
Junior Female: -42kg, -44kg, -46kg, -49kg, -52kg, -55kg, -59kg, -63kg, -68kg, +68 kg
Cadets Male: -33kg, -37kg, -41kg, -45kg, -49kg, -53kg, -57kg, -61kg, -65kg, +65kg
Cadets Female: -29kg, -33kg, -37kg, -41kg, -44kg, -47kg, -51kg, -55kg, -59kg, +59 kg

Children Male and Female: -27kg, -30kg, -33kg, -36kg, -40kg, -44kg, -48kg, -52kg, -57kg, +57kg

Children and Cadets must hold at least 6th Gup.




Seniors, Juniors and Cadets: 3 x1,5 min (30 sec. break)
Children: 2 x 1,5 min (30 sec. break)
The contests duration is subject to change by the Organizing Committee.

Recognized brands
Recognized brands Participating contestants are required to wear WTF recognized doboks and WTF-recognized protective equipment. The latest version of WTF-recognized manufacturers’ list is available at the website of WTF:

All competitors participate at their own risk. The online registration implies that the competitors agree to assume all responsibility for themselves and to release all other parties from any and all liability which may directly or indirectly result. The organizer is in no way responsible for any damage caused to a person or their belongings.

Medals for the places 1 to 3 individual results.
Teams cups will be awarded to the three best teams in each division.
The team ranking is based on the following point system: every gold medal – 7points, every silver medal – 3 points and every bronze medal – 1 point


For every five contestants within the same team, one coach is granted free admission, with a maximum of four coaches. Every additional coach above the maximum allowed number should pay 25 euro admission. Coaches can enter the competition area only with proper sport shoes and proper tracksuit. Before weigh-in all coaches must have the Special ID-Cards for their teams. Weigh-in and entry to the sports hall only with Special ID-Cards. Special ID-Cards for all competitors and coaches. The following accreditations will be provided to team member on request to the OC:

Only the official coach is allowed to protest, immediately after the end of the contest. An amount of € 100 (Euro) will have to be paid for each protest. The decision of the referee chairman is final.


All referees will be contacted and invited by the Referee Committee.
Hotel and Full board accommodation will be provided for the International referees from 2nd March until 5th March 2018.
